Director of Strategic Partnerships, CoHealth
Class of 2018
While doing his undergrad in biochemistry, Rob Iaboni knew that pursuing a masters involving lab-based research was not something that he would be passionate about. He knew that topics of interest included commercialization of biological products, entrepreneurship, innovation, healthcare and learning from others. That’s when he found out about MBiotech.
The 24-month program has allowed him to experience the ins and outs of his passions first hand, while networking and learning from others in the healthcare space.
When it came time to deciding his one-year internship, he knew he wanted a unique experience. After creating a company with his brother in Toronto (The Monkey Vault), he knew he wanted to learn how technology firms started up from nothing and grew to multi-million dollar businesses. The RIC Centre allowed him to do just that. Working as the Marketing and Outreach Officer, he was able to help high-potential businesses everyday, while meeting new and interesting people, learning their stories along the way. Iaboni credits this position with refining his north pointing “entrepreneurial needle.”
After his internship, Iaboni joined CoHealth, a digital health company located in downtown Toronto. CoHealth allows patients to access everything they need to prepare, plan, and manage their care and recovery. CoHealth is a general-purpose platform that is being distributed and used in a variety of care ecosystems such as emergency departments, maternity units, surgical units, cardiology and are currently expanding into cancer care, diabetes, medicine, mental health and primary care. The CoHealth platform can also be used for pre-visit, visit, and post-care management and is customized and branded to the care providers they partner with.
At CoHealth, Iaboni leads all commercialization efforts with external stakeholders, including hospitals, primary care and governments, insurers and advertisers in both Canada and the US. He credits this experience and passion for product commercialization to MBiotech and all of the business classes that prepared him along the way.
