Krysten Hobbs

Territory Associate, GlaxoSmithKline
Class of 2017

Already having a science based education, Krysten Hobbs wanted to build a foundation in business aspiring to enter the corporate world. MBiotech was the right complement to her needs as it offered tailored business courses to the pharmaceutical sector and real-industry projects geared towards science students.

Never having a role outside of a lab, the internship placement at a leading pharmaceutical company was a great opportunity to stretch her skill set while gaining corporate exposure. In her Medical Information internship, Hobbs gained a unique perspective of how teams within a company collaborate cross-functionally to solve customer problems. The internship served as living proof of the principles she had learned during the program: how to work efficiently in teams, think critically from a business perspective and how to effectively communicate ideas. With side projects and initiatives that took flight, Hobbs learned the ability to drive change in an organization through building a network and utilizing her strengths.

Hobbs is currently working as a Territory Associate at GlaxoSmithKline, where she directly interacts with customers to provide valuable healthcare solutions. She discovered her passion for commercial strategy and customer relations during her time as a Medical Information Associate at Boehringer Ingelheim. There she worked across 20 prescription medications and devices to increase customer knowledge by effectively communicating product information. Her firsthand experience with customers led to close interaction with commercial brand teams where she provided medical insights in cross-functional settings and contributed to brand tactic development. During her time at BI, Hobbs led the implementation and execution of the Competitive Intelligence Team for the idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis therapeutic area.
